Triangular Matrix

Ásdís Spanó at the studio

At my studio working on the finishing touch for the opening of Triangular Matrix. My paintings constitute a sort of battlefield where materials and their natural inclinations fight against the control of the artist who tries to control the outcome. The superposition of layers is in fact a way to regulate the visibility of the elements present in the paintings. The use of different materials - ink, water oil paint and sprays - is needed to expand the possibilities of the painting, to trigger a challenge which is deep and ancient: the humankind’s effort to modify nature and to eventually bend nature to its will.
